  1. What is the rationale behind the "grace period" on your version of the HCG diet?

It vaires greatly from the original 'Pounds and Inches' protocol, in which Dr. Simmeons did not restrict calories, only sugar and starch. This 3 week period is meant to reset the hypothalamus at your current weight.

It seems to me that 1000 calories would have people continuing to lose weight or, at the very least, adjusting their metabolism to a very restricted caloric intake for maintenance.

  4. What happens when I get sick part way through, can't eat anything for two days? Now I'm starting to get my appetite back-but not for chicken and fish. What happens if I take a day or two to get better and start up again? I don't want to be done but don't think I can start up yet??

    thanks

  5. The first 23 days is when the hypothalamus is being retrained. The grace period is important to help prevent any weight flucuations as you have the option to double all your portions. The first 23 days of the diet is where the whole process is taking place for long term success on weight control. During the Grace Period, you can still loose weight. It really isnt just a 40 day diet- due to the fact that you will continue to loose on the maint. phase. Time frames can vary person to person depending on goal weights and health. Its also important that you do the grace period to prevent any imunity to the hcg for further use. If you have any questions feel free to call our nurse line (:

  7. Hopefully your not planning on eating a 9 lb ribeye.....(: maybe 9oz?
On the Grace period you are alotted 7 oz of meat 2 x daily vs. 3.5. If that means eating a 14 oz steak for dinner then yes thats ok.
If you want to continue to loose weight on the grace period then stick to the same foods you have during the shots.

  8. Amanda,
This happens often with the flu's going around. If your not far into the diet we will sometimes reccomend that you stop, let your body heal and restart. If its just a day or two that you cheated or were unable to follow the diet and your further into the diet..then keep going. It WILL set you back about a week or so but you can still continue to loose. Please feel free to call us for further questions (: Feel Better

  9. what do you mean "imunity to the hcg" and how does it happen?

  10. If you did hcg for more than 40 days WITHOUT break or "grace period" you have the chance to not loose as quickly. Most of the time you will loose quickly the first couple of weeks and then it tapers off around the end of your cycle. Dr. Simeon reccomended a 6 week grace period inbetween each cycle, getting 2 weeks progressively longer each cycle. So 6 wks. 8 wks. 10 wks. Hopefully that helped (:
